We have always donated 2% of our profits to development initiatives in third world countries. If all companies donated only 0.1% of profits, poverty and hunger in every part of the world would be solved and we would certainly have a better world!
This month we started a new important project in the primary school for the Blind in Missala, in one of the suburban municipalities of Bamako, the capital of Mali. The school welcomes about thirty children, both sighted and blind, in mixed classes with blind teachers flanked by sighted support teachers. The children participate together in all the teaching activities proposed in a regular class, in this way the blind student acquires cognitive and motor skills in a real world, developing spatial knowledge and the ability to interact with others; while sighted children in turn are made aware of the help and respect for their blind companion. Together they will develop trusting and interpersonal relationships.
While waiting to enhance the educational tools available with the introduction of digital solutions, the first school furniture was purchased and delivered: desks, chairs and mobile blackboards for the classrooms. Food was also delivered: rice, millet and sugar for the small boarding school that hosts blind pupils, either orphans or from distant regions, together with the three blind teachers, aiming to help the school in this difficult period of health emergency.
We thank UnAltroMondo ONLUS (www.unaltromondo.it) for having accompanied us in the realization of this project.
